Bravo III question please help

My boat does have a bravo III on it now and came from the factory with it. I have up my horse power and am now seeing really high speeds and still have power for more. But my question is should I do away with it and go with a bravo I or something? And Another question is why is the bravo III not good for high speeds what problems do they cause? Thanks guys for the help.

What boat do you have, what is the current HP, and what speeds are you running? Generally speaking once you are running speeds above 60 MPH you are better off running a Bravo I with a single prop. You choices in props also increase dramatically with a Bravo I allowing you to better dial in your setup.

Bravo 3 also has a low gear ratio, most are 2.0.

Easy swap, you only need the lower. Find out the gear ratio you have and match up the right lower gear set to get a 1.50 ratio for widest prop selection. If you have stainless props the used sale of your props and lower on ebay will be more than enough money for a new off brand lower and SS prop

My current motor is 502mpi procharged and running well over 70 on gps 28 pitch props and I think the tag is saying its a 1.82 ratio. Somtimes it can be a hand full to control at high speeds and not sure if its the bravo III causing it.

Here is a good thread to read concerning BIII and what you can expect to see in higher HP applications.
