1.35 gear ratio versus 1.5
I have a 1.5 gear ratio steerndrive with a 30 pitch prop now and will be going to a 1.35 gear ratio drive, what prop would I use.

also your boat will lose acceleration,,aka take longer to reach max speed and longer planing time.. |

never go 134 or 136 unless you need more than 36 pitch it will slow you down about 3 mph

The larger pitched props have the blade surface of the prop more laid back (parralel to the water) which caused handling issues with my single engined v-hull. The 26-30 pitch bravo props also tend to have lower slip numbers than their larger bretheren. Chris |
Going from a 1.50 to a 1.35 is 3" of pitch with the same model of prop. You could move 2"- 4" of pitch depending on if you'd like to increase or decrease rpms a little.

Thanks for your help with this I had it backwards and was thinking that since the prop would turn slower with a 1.35 ration that it was essentially geared down which I thought would require higher pitched prop not lower. My new drive also has a one inch shorter Imco lower section, I have both 28 and 30 pitch props so your answers saved me the purchase of another prop.
