Tailstock help

Ok I pulled my motor to replace my trans and when I did I found that my tailstock had spun a bearing at some point and to fix it the person bored it out more and stuck a band clamp around the bearing to act as a shim.... I kid you not!

So needless to say thats not going back in. The new transmission I got had a a different shifter set up then mine did and I have no idea how it mounts or works or what. The link is of what I orginally had with the shifter bracket cast ino the tailstock. The new one I got has a seperate bracket that appears to attach to the bolt that goes down through the tail stock and through the inner transom assembly, but again I have no clue I have never seen this set up before. Anyone have any ideas or can you help me out?

It will be monday before I can get out there and take a pic of it. It's inside my buddy's shop and he's gone until sunday night.

ok here is a link to what the tailstock that came with my new trans looks like. Anyone have a better picture as to how or where the shifter bracket mounts?
