Transmission adjustment

How do you know when the transmission is adjusted correctly as far as shifting into F-N-R? It is a transmission on a number III drive?

Do you know which trans you have? I would assume it to be a Borg-Warner. If so the shift lever on the side of the trans will have 3 detent holes in it and a poppet ball behind it which locks into the detent holes. Center hole is neutral.

Really need to know which trans you have. Are you having a problem?

It is borg warner velvet drive. No problems, just put boat back together and want to make sure it is correct. One feels a little different then the other.

Very important that when the lever on the helm is in the Forward postion, that the transmission is fully engaged in foward on the trans linkage. If not you may smoke the tranny.
