8.2l mercrusier and Bravo drive

Does anyone know if the new 8.2l mercrusier engine will fit the standard bravo drive, and how do you think it would hold up with the 8.2l mag 380hp engine..

Sure, it fits.
The standard original Bravo 1 came behind engines up to 480hp, but the cone clutches were too weak for that application. The cones were upgraded in 1992 to 6-rib clutches and the drives would last good behind 400 hp, and not quite as good behind 500 hp. The Bravo 1 X then came out as the entry level drive with some beefier parts.

If you have a "pre 1992" Bravo 1, you will want to go thru it and upgrade the cone clutches to the later style and make sure all of the bearings and gears look fine, and that the vertical shaft doesn't show signs of twist or fatigue.

If your Bravo is newer than 1992, then your drive already has the newer clutches but will still need to be checked for fatigue and gear lash.

But yes, the new 8.2 will fit, and yes, the Bravo 1 (if in good condition and not near the end of its life cycle) will handle the motor well.
