Bravo Gimble HP???

Whats the difference between a Stock Gimble and an HP?
Can a Stock Gimble be converted to an HP?

Thanks

it is basically the point where they pivot .std one has theaded hinge pins that screw into the bell and pivots on the ring . hp has pins that press into the ring and pivot on the bell .pretty sure you can press the bushing out of the ring and the bell would need to be replaced with hp or bored out to size .ive never done it but pretty sure it can be .sure others will chime in as well

I need new gimbles too. I have the stock Merc Bravo gimbles running 640 HP in an 8500 lb boat.

Is the stainless gimble actually better? Heard good & bad...

The stainless Gimble is probably 5 times stronger than the Aluminum one (I can't imagine it breaking). The problem is the casting for the Stainless ring is marginal, I ordered one quite a while ago, price was pretty good (like 650$) but it needed sanding, welding, shimming and re-machining to ever fit (I didn't feel that ambitious and I didn't have the time then) Chad Hill posted on a thread once where this was discussed and said that they have been improved and talking to Max Machine worx a few years ago Aaron told me that they were re-working them to perfection BUT they were triple what I paid for my mine (I fire saled it on E-bay and fully disclosed the problems), might be something to get, Smitty
