Be careful..those may be the softer stainless nyloc nuts that stripp at torque spec..merc ones are a silver goldish color and mcmaster are all silver..i would get the merc ones or the hardened arp ones..

Remember even if they are not the merc ones and he starts pounding waves and the mcmaster car ones pull their threads bye bye drive and the boat does a 180* spin and sinks..

if youre that worried about the strength of the ss, buy grade 8 steel plated nuts and replace them every year, regaurdless of 300 series, 400 series, the best you will find will equate to about a grade 5. As for the 5 nuts for $1.43, thats gott be a glitch. We get over $1 per pound for scrap! Five nuts has to be a couple pounds.

I may be missing something and i don't claim to know everything but why do these nuts have to be nasa grade when all the force is on the prop shaft/thrust bearing?

Cuz it's oso, where you need a medium duty freightliner to haul a 292 formula

This nut isn't for the prop. They hold the upper and lower halves together.
