Bravo drive water leak
 

Looking for opinions and possible fixes for a water leak on one of my drives. Leak is above the driveshaft on the inside of the trasom assembly. Was told it was probably the steering pin seals or possibly the bellows. It has had a very slow drip since I got it but the end of last season it became a pretty steady stream, not a good situation if bilge pump were to fail. I was told that the best course of action was to just replace the transom assembly, and since the other side has a slow drip I guess that one might as well be done also. Looking for a second opinion, and possible sources of parts.

I have the same prob and i am sure in my case its the swivel pin seal . a steady leak dead centerand above drive shaft without the motor running . going to do mine when my Hp gimbles and hellmets arrive . going to do gimble bearing and bellows , going with the JR gimble remove kit he has every thing you will need and you can whatch his vid on how to do it with his kit . Just google JR gimble removeall .

Yeah, swivel pin seal. Looks like a pain, pull engines and drives to remove transom assembly or cut hole in front cover(JR method). Just wondering since my drives are 1994 vintage seems like I should replace all the pins, seals, bellows, cables etc and to do so is a lot of $. Would it be better to just get new assemblies, (still more $) but have all new.

I would pull the drive and make sure it isn't something as simple as bellows. If the bellows are torn and have been leaking I would replace the gimbal bearing too.

Will do, but pretty sure it is the swivel pin. That is where the water coming from.

or just install some Arneson's! Gain speed and fix the leak all at once! :lolhit:

No matter what you do get it fixed so we can have some fun boating this summer!

I had the same problem a couple years ago. I just yanked the engines and fixed EVERYTHING while I had it apart. New Bellows, Seals, etc.....

For me - I'd have the engines out and sitting on the ground before I could get the JR method completed, and best of all I'd take the opportunity to replace Plugs while there sitting on the garage floor.

I pulled the engine to replace mine too, but in hind site I would do the JR method next time.

Yeah, that's what I would like to do but time won't allow it this year. Maybe I will just do the bad one with the jr method to get by for a bit and completely redo them or swap to some hp takeoffs when engines come out for upgrades.
