Velvet 72C U-Joint Output Yoke?
 

How's it going? I was wondering if Velvet ever made an output yoke that had the ability to have a U-Joint bolted or pressed into it rather than a flanged output coupler. I'm putting an Arneson drop box with a 72c in a 70' Sea Ray Pachanga and with as tight as the engine compartment is I could use all the inches i could get. Lol If you guys know of something or have a part number i'd really appreciate it.

VD didn't make it but there is such a thing. They are made by machining a Spicer piece. I'm sure I have a few around here. What series driveline are you using?

I hopping to get a huber 1200 trans which is based off the 72C. It's an inline with no reduction unit. What size U-joint would the yoke be for?

Most likely it will be for a 1350/1410, that was pretty much standard on everything before the #6 dry sump.

Mbam, would this yoke work on a hurth 630 drop drive? If so how much would you want for one? I forgot all about this thread.

No, different spline.
Just curious, if you are using a drop box on the drive why are you using a 630?

Thanks for getting back with me. The arneson i have is a 1:1 ratio and they used the 630 for the reduction gear. It's what came with the drive when i got it. I suppose i could have used an inline 72c with the reduction but then its getting even longer. It's going to be super close. You wouldn't happen to have anything like what we were talking about for the Hurth drive would you?

I don't have a yoke to fit a 630. In the past we have machined the Hurth flange for the Spicer bolt pattern. The actual difference in length is not that much, I think you only save about 1/2" by using a yoke.

Be careful of the angle between the 630 and the Arneson, the flanges really should be parallel and offset. There is another way to do it with intercecting centerlines but measuring is difficult.
