apparently,Mercury sells a kit to block the lower holes on a dwp bravo...somebody has the part/kit number? i suppose the holes already have threads? what size/pitch?

All it is is a strap with a rubber cup on the end to block off most of the water coming from the forward water inlet holes. Nothing fancy, but it will set you back about $30-$40 if memory serves me correctly. You can fabricate one yourself if your clever or handy. NO threads in the holes. Just a cup to cover them.

Redhook, he is talking about the kit to plug the top few holes so a drive that is mounted high does not suck air.

pq - the kit from Mercury is extravagantly expensive. It is just some 1/16 npt pipe plugs. The holes are not threaded, you will need a tap also.

maybe i should elaborate on my problem...ever since I bought the xR with dwp,i have the impression im getting too much water in,as the water exists thru the intercooler at idle...it wasn't doing it with the bravo 1...it also seems to make the idle mixture too rich,causing the motor to ''load up''in no Wake zones...i figured blocking the low water pick-up holes would bring the mixture back to where it was before the XR
motor is 496/Whipple with closed cooling

PQ, The plugs are not going to change the flow at idle. At least I don't think so, and the kit is for the side holes.

How is the intercooler plumbed?

Use some Right Stuff to fill those holes in the nose on the DWP. That way if you want to open it later you can. You could also install a nose cone to block them. Or use bondo after removing the paint inside the holes.
So long as you have a smooth surface on the outside and the holes are plugged it should accomplish what you need to stop the water flow during the idle.

thanks everybody...I'll try blocking them with the Right Stuff,and see what it does...

Maybe try some shrink wrap tape, ive used it to block upper holes before, during testing and if it works you can make more permanent fixes. The stuff will stay on pretty good for testing and you can pull it off in the water if you need to.
