Is there any kind of maintenance or services that should be done to these drives periodically?

I change the drive oil every fall before I put the boat to bed for the winter. The only bad thing is that each drive holds about 9 quarts of drive oil it gets expensive but cheaper than replacing gears.

Depending on how long it has been, it is good to take the leg off and have somebody like MRD go through it and replace seals, and inspect the cardan joints. Probably every 4 or 5 years maybe.

How much does it usually cost for seals and to have joints checked? Is there any shims that need checked too?

Tcelano how do you like your Mistress? I am looking for one but need to sell the Pantera first. I like your boat.

I have sent III uppers to MRD twice. They changed gear sets, did seals, and even gave me a new cardan one time, and it was never much over $400.

Bigboat- Thanks. The Mistress has proven to be the best handling and running boat I've been in. It's old, and it's heavy, but with enough power, it is great. I've had it only barely out of the water over wakes, and it seems to fly real level with our setup (SSM V's on boxes). I put a bigger fuel tank in up forward, and put the engines in on 12" jack shafts. Balance is perfect. Mild porpoise at around 60 mph, but above that, the tabs aren't even needed.

Called Riggs and MRD today they both said they no longer do it. Anyone know of anybody preferably in Ohio?

Anyone have a number for MRD not sure I had the correct one tried 2 different numbers.
