TRS Drive Tiebar bolt torque

1987 311 sr1 TRS drives with tiebar

After running, tiebar slips "backward". Yesterday replaced 4 bolts that hold it (2 on each drive) and tightened very securely - not sure torque to use on bolt - don't want too tight as maybe this will not allow this to act as pivot point when drives trim up and down, but yet don't want too loose as tiebar will keep moving

help pls

here is link to a picture that showa how tiebar is attached to drive

My tie bar did the same thing when I got my 311. I had to tighten them real good and then they stopped moving forward and backward. Not sure what the torque setting is but I would think you'd be ok with the rubber groumets there. Just make sure the drives go up and down as evenly as possible.

thx for reply :)

yep I tightened em real good. posted another thread as well in regards to drives - what I see is that port drive goes up slower than starboard drive - was wondering if there was "adjustment" for speed ? I am using twin buttons for trim and pushing both at same time, but one drive goes higher than other when I let off of both switches

I think it's just the nature of the beast. I've use my trailer switch to bring up or down at the same time and they go up at different speeds too.
