TRS pushing oil from breathers.... both of them...

I just repowered my Cig with 600 hp.... has TRS, my drives have always pushed a little fluid from vents in both my TRS boats, this weekend with new power the drives pushed more fluid then normal, enough to make a mess, both drives doing same amount it seems...

I let sit, pulled lowr plugs, no water, all green drive oil, same with upper plugs, there was only about 3/4" of oil in resivoir....

I thought showers maybe but EVERYONE swears you don't need them on TRS drives...???

35 Mistress 600 HP 660 FTLB tq... 69 mph so far, heavy Mistress.... think they are working hard enough to justify a shower??

The fluid expands a lot when under load and the full mark is for when it is hot. Checking the oil when cold, it should barely touch the bottom of the dip stick. If you are filling it to the mark on the stick when cold that is what is causing the spillage when the oil heats up and expands, showers are not needed on a TRS drive.

I agree Tim. the oil should barely touch the bottom of the dip stick.. We have never had that problem with either cig but, then again, I guess you have to be running hard.. ha ha... Pops has drive showers on his..... not really sure if they are needed but they are on there...

Everyone says not needed, I always ran them 1/2"-3?4" up dipstick cold, maybe that's why they always push, but yes I also run them HARD all the time... lol

it may be a stupid question buy what douse the oil on the dip stick I am assuming on the motor have to do with the gear lube in the drive? r trs's set up that different then bravo's or am I just not understanding what the hell we r talking about here... lol

If you try it as I mentioned above and still have spillage then it most likely means that your upper drive bearings are going bad. I also run mine hard and no problems. Also don't over look your engine RPM difference because it could be in your transmissions and/or drives.
