Small piece miising by prop at top, one do I care, two if I want to weld a piece in there would have to completly dissasemble the lower? yes /no. And three how the hell did that happen, not my boat but maybe. |
3. fouled prop with something, line, fish net etc.....make sure the prop shaft is free of runout.

It seems fine.

You can fix that without taking anything apart, just go easy on the stitches

That is a bad place for welding. It can see a lot of stress and flexing right at that corner. May be worth a try, but check it periodically for cracking from skeg flex. Don't expect any weld to be as good as original, you are removing some heat treat. Also, it may distort the thread bore for the bearing carrier, but this would depend on how much heat is put into it.

its not a hard or expensive fix if you find a decent welder. It just needs to be stitch welded instead of stomping on the peddle and pouring heat to it. Around here that could be fixed for a case of beer.
