Repairing a damaged gimbal housing
Just finished up repairing a Bravo One gimbal housing, that blew apart the universal bellows mounting flange. This happened from a universal joint failing. I haven't had a need for this in quite some time until now. This product has been on the market for 16 years, I think Sierra has had it for 2-3 years.
I spoke with the inventor of the product Monday, due to the extreme damage on the housing. The responding email was the same day with a phone call. The repair went flawless with no issues, went exactly as stated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KymMl...yqEjeD67iTMVqw |

ive fixed many myself from blown u joints to corrosian ..im not real impressed with the plastic ..i have a steel piece about 1 1/4 long
that looks the same as the aluminum part the bellows slides on to .usually there is only a chunk broken out or corroded i slide the ring over the existing piece and weld it back up on the inside with my spoolgun ..now aluminum wont stick to steel so as soon as it cools off it pretty much falls off and you now have the part fixed with aluminum ..now i understand not everyone has a welder.. but this is good info for a marina trying to save a customer $$$ and this is a permanent fix no plastic no epoxy ..ive done this 15 20 times in the past when done you cant tell from factory we all have customers that want to save $ and down time |
