sonic prowler steering play
 

i have an 04 sonic prowler 26 with mercruiser 496 bravo 1 drive and have about 4 inches of play at the steering wheel. I have installed new gimbal ring and steering pin and it took alot of it out but i am still stuck with about 4 inches of play. When i have someone turn the wheel i have no movement at the steering pin until the wheel is turned about 4 inches either way. I am thinking the steering cable has stretched but am not sure i have also heard of the helm being bad. Any suggestions would be appreciated as well if anyone knows the length of this cable that would be great.
