cost to rebuild c-72 transmission
 

anyone got a average cost to rebuild one of these transmission.got a guy that owns a transmission shop that says he can do it ,but cannot quote me a price because he does not know what is bad.i would really like to have a idea.any body?

All depends what's wrong with it. $800-$2500. If it's just clutches and seals around $800

mel rigs rebuilds them for 1200

I'm willing to bet if the pump is beat, the input shaft is worn, and the clutches are smoked he's going to charge more than 1200. If not I'm done rebuilding them and will sublet them all to him.

I bought all my seals and clutches from earl Zimmer for my Huber 900s 425.00 bucks for both trannys.

I had two upgraded at Huber, one needed some work, plus rebuilds north of $3K.

I think they are 1300s now...

thanks for all the replys.this is the first boat I have had that has trasnmissions.so I wanted a idea on what was the average cost.i think the problem is in the clutches.i say this because on the trailer running the prop truns at a pretty good pace.people tell me the cluches are warped and this is why the prop shaft is turning.the boat was still running,but when I started putting more power to the motor,say about 4000rpm,the trans would break lose and the rpms would zing up.it was almost like someone put the thing in neutrail.would that be clutches or a weak pump?or both?

Clutches and steels are warped, possible line pressure or volume issue caused them to slip and warp. Could also be a control valve issue. We dyno everyone to make sure. Also check your shift linkage goes all the way into gear.
