I scattered my early model bravo x drive in my 03 25ol with 290 hrs and replaced it with a 2015 bravo x with the fluted cap should I run the 75-90 or the 75-140 its time to change the oil in her and I have the 75-90 in the shop. Advantages , disadvantages I would like educated opinions that was a expensive deal because when it chunked up it took out my coupler. Thank mike

I picked up some REDLINE heavy shockproof this time around. Film thickness greater than an SAE 75W250, yet low fluid friction like 75W90 what they claim.

Stuff looks like strawberry shortcake mix, till you smell it. Hate gear oil smell.

The Red Line Heavy is GOOOOOOD SH---t! Ive seen it come out of 6.58 Gear behind 850hp on Asphalt for 500 miles and not even turn color! Temp was in the 375-400 Range.
The NEO products are also Excellent. Amsoils MLM sales model turns me off , they have decent stuff , but I think their Technologies are behind alittle.

As was stated earlier the 75-140 will slow you down slightly, I run the 75-110 as it was recommended by the Amsoil tech I talked to. On another note, George from AADS has noticed that recent batches of extreme gear are creating havoc with the cone clutch. He has had several new rebuilds go bad very quickly. He changed the oil to Merc Hi-performance and swapped the clutch and no problems. He is working with Amsoil to figure out what they changed that is causing the problem. He just rebuilt my drive and I am running the Merc oil to break it in and then I will switch to NEO.

That's interesting and seems to line up with my experience. I have not had a problem since I switched back to Merc hi performance lube.

let us know your results, one of them i heard foamed up pretty bad , not sure which one seems like that info came from Teauge?

I didn't have a problem with Amsoil Marine Gear Lube, but I heard it wasn't as good as severe gear. So I switched to Severe Gear, and that's when the problems started. Switched back to Merc and all is good (I hope!).

I've had the boat for 3 seasons and haven't been in the drives yet - that is on the to-do list for this winter. it's probably over due.

Yeah we're not running the Amsoil Marine in anything over 500 HP.
