I believe your biggest gains would be seen not so much by going to a Bravo I at your current drive depth, but by going to a Bravo I at a raised drive height. It would be interesting to see what a shorty would do on your boat and then space down if needed to get prop slip where it needs to be.

Yes, I'd search for the seller before I buy anything used.

My friend has the same model Chaparral with a 350 Magnum and he only gets 45mph so you are doing pretty well. To get to 70 mph with a 1.5 ratio Bravo you need a 25" Mirage Plus or a 24" Bravo four blade. If you can turn those props to 5000 rpm you will get 70. If you can't you cant

IF this is the same guy that had Hawk Power when it was all going down back in 2004, then it should ring a bell!

Rex is spot on. I had a 24 ft vip vindicator with a 496HO and was turning a 24p Bravo 4 blade 5100 at 65 mph and a 23p Mirage+ 5150 at 67mph. That was only 425HP. If you have 500 HP you should get right at 71. As for how much faster is a b3 vs b1. It REALLY depends on the boat. The longer the boat IE a 27 ft BAJA going b3 to b1 will give you less gain than a 23 ft BAJA going from b3 to b1. Not that either one of those boats ever had a b3 but just saying. Would I personally switch to a b1 in your case.. NO.. Any Gofast "style" boat over 22 ft with a single screw b1 sucks docking with any wind. Mine was a pain in the ass. With your B3 I am sure you look at other people docking and are wondering why they cant drive a boat...lol..

Good Luck
Chris
