GLENAMY what do you have as far as set up and years. 2003 or above transom assembly ? is the inner plate the same year model. We are talking about a Bravo app correct ? what flywheel and housing and year ? Just want to make sure we are on the same page here as I do not know what you have going on nor parts installed.

I have a new Bravo HP gimble assy. (inner/outer) s/n OL 505534 and my flywheel cover is off of unknown year Bravo 1 454/7.4 with big opening. The motor had an earlier style outdrive, no reservoir a pre celery stick model. The bolts I have (new in package) do not have springs. This thread has me concerned if I am going to run into any surprises when I marry the two in the near future. Thank you for your help/knowledge.
I asked you earlier about Bravo shift plate, are you saying I can use my base Alpha plate remove interrupter switch and swap Bravo cable planetary retainer and shift arm with Bravo, I was not sure about the arm.

GlenAmy, I do have a tool, if there are any tolerance issues. I'll keep your that in mind, thank you for your offer. I'm on the east side.

BUP, After reading your SB and research here is what I found and my question.
I have newer inner HP transom plate, an older (non-knurled) flywheel cover. Bravo 7.4
Can I use the non spring bolt set-up as came with the transom assy?
Will my alignment heights be ok? What else am I missing?

Glenamy, how did you come to those conclusions? I ask because I need to identify the same thing.

Reaper 311, The transom assembly has the S/N and it came with the fiber washers, no springs. As for the flywheel cover in BUP's post on the Mercruiser SB it shows the knurling on the bottom of the flywheel cover mount pads as newer cover, mine has no knurling and is identified (again by the SB) to be the older, pre 2003, cover. Does that help?

I've got a bad coupler. So that engine is going to have to come out. While its out there's a few things I need to do. The other one appears to be ok. Right now it's having the time to pull it that's the issue so things are kinda at a stand still.
