Bravo 1 Oil

Has anyone on here ever run a standard Bravo 1 at around 480 hp @ 5850 rpm on Torco MTF. It is recommended for the number 6 drives but they don`t have a gear change or a cone clutch, so will it work for a Bravo 1 with any life in it.

Any advise on here please.

Royal Purple Gear Lube is junk in bravos. Ask Arcticfriends all about that. Very well documented with his tests on gear hardening. Doubled the gear life switching off of the purple garbage.

have run royal purple for 5 seasons with 700+ hp never a issue...so not sure how junk it was/is...but have heard horror stories lately about a lot of their stuff, switched to amzoil

Here's a big difference on the Merc #6 Dry Sump Drive - it's sprays oil at it's components (thus the 'Dry Sump) vs a wet bath the Bravo uses.

So....I'm sure the oil requirements are very different.

Unless told by a guru of guru's for Bravo's, I would not stray from the type of gear oil needed / recommended for the Bravo's.

I am starting this year with Driven gear oil. They also have a breakin gear oil that is highly recommended for new drives and or new drive gear changes. If you need anymore info about it just post your contact info.

Amsoil 75-110, I run 75-140 too

or another one that is fairly priced is Mystic JT7 85W-140

All three significantly reduced my problems.
