Anyone still running surface drives "KAAMA" ? Are parts still available ?

Yes.
Yes.
Lots of Formulas have them. There is also a big restoration thread in the Scarab section with a guy retrofitting them to his boat.

Congress is talking of outlawing them and prosecuting anyone who has owned or driven a boat with them in the last 20 years.

Numerous Bloody Docking incidents that are awaiting prosecution and monetary settlement.

Mine still have the original prop guards. osha/ fela and the cfr don't scare me.

The Kaama conversion starts on page 39 but the previous pages covered bring the boat back from a major restoration which started back in 2007!

Good Kaama parts are getting harder and harder to find. I say good because the I have a couple case pieces that are not in good shape and will require some precision machining and repair to make them usable again. The cases are really the only parts that can't be reproduced without costing $$$. There is still a company that is making the gears and can also make the shafts. All of the bearing and seal components can be bought from an industrial bearing company. I completely went through mine this spring and it cost me ~$800 just in beatings and seals for both drives. I also have a company that can make the rubber boots similiar to the original design. I am running these boots right now and they work okay. I am going to talk to them in the fall about a possible design change to make them a little better!!

Don't forget that Austrian company is making boots, so I don't know how much time and money you'd want to invest in boots.

I make my boots. Took awhile to get the "pattern" right to have the right length with a taper, but it can be done. I get the material and industrial adhesive from Texas Rubber Supply Company here in Dallas.
