How do you change the fluid in a #6 drive

I have not had any luck searching for a service manual or any luck with info on how to change the drive fluid in a #6 drive. Any help or links would be greatly appreciated!!

Might want to specify wet or dry sump. Dry sump has the swept back skeg.

Give the Mercury Marine factory in Fond du Lac, WI a call. Just order the maintenance and parts manuals for the drive. All the info is in them. They are cheap and will save you time trying to lookup part numbers. (920)929-5000

If it s a dry sump #6 then you will need a special tool (91-847468T & 91-847418) to remove the nose cone and change the filter. The gear lube is pumped in through the bottom plug, just like a Bravo, but once it reaches the top hole you need to rotate the propshaft 80 times to fill the filter cavity. It doesn't matter which direction you turn it. Afterwards, re-check the fluid level and then put the plugs back in.
