Tranny slipping
 
Got boat out finally been sitting for 15 years,its a 23 cat w trs. And 330 Hp 454 ran 4900 rpm wit,slow, then went into netrul,then it moves until 2000 rpm then slips, looks like a 71 or 72 i no it has to come out ,any ideas ???

assuming you have a solid hub prop? If not maybe prop hub went south? I know it's kind of a stretch but worth checking before you pull engine & trans...

You didn't say, but did you change the trans fluid?

Tranny fluid will usually smell burned if their bad enough to be slipping. You sure it's a Borg-Warner trans and not a MercTrans. Should have a metal tag on it.

Is there a band to adjust too, or am I thinking of the merctrans? And is it just for reverse? You can download borg repair manuals free all over the web.
