New motor install

Ok I ripped out my trs. Installed a bravo 5 inches higher now how does motor align .its sitting on back transom plates with bravo bellhousing ,but what about front ?? I have a dummy ten lbs block in it do i need the alignment tool to go into copuler? There is no flywheel on it just try g to set motor mounts ??? Thanks

You need flywheel and coupler on motor with bell housing bolted to transom plate. Alignment tool goes through gimbal bearing into coupler. Move motor up n down in front to where alignment tool slides in through bearing into coupler smoothly, you wil have very little left - right movement. Don't force it. Put grease on end of tool so you see if it's hit top of coupler or bottom and move motor accordingly. Moving motor up and down in front is done with tool removed. If your having a lot of trouble you can have someone spin motor and look from back of boat through gimbal bearing hole and make coupler is spinning true. Seeing that your doing change over from TRS and have to drill new mount holes you may learn some new curse words. Good luck

Agree ^^^ dummy block needs the bearings and crank in it for perfect alignment, make sure you are using the fiber washers on the inner plate where the bellhousing sits

5 inches higher than trs ? propshaft ?
and is 10 lb dummy block a typo
what kind of boat

R5 inches higher? You know bravo is 1.7 inches shorter than TRS , right? So you are raising propshaft 6.7 inches higher than it was with TRS. You sure you want it that high?

Yes its 2 inches below bottom now I can always get a spacer its a 23 daytona. All the work is done just trying to figure out how high to put front mounts ,they r adjustable heightwise. Lots of daytonas. Have drives high then pot imco shorties. On

Even if wrong flywheel and alpha coupler, you need something for the align tool to go into. The distance between gimball bearing and coupler spline is very short. 2-3 inches. That up-down angle is a big change with very little adjustment on the mounts. Eyeballing it will probably get you close enough, but this ain't horshoes...
