bravo one conversion to a imco 2"shorty

Hello every I've been wanting to convert my bravo lower over to a Imco 2" shorty for quite some time now and finally got the financing to do it. I was wondering if anyone has done this before and can lead me down the right path. I have a 94 Bravo one 1.50 with a 1" prop shaft. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I found a reman Shorty for 1700 or 3500 brand new. Just trying to see what it takes to swap them over.

I think it is direct bolt in swap. I am gonna say it us. That way if I am wrong, somebody will call me stupid and tell us all what it entails...

Easy swap. You may need to run a 4 blade prop. I did weld up and reconfigure the huge water inlet. Pressure was way too high and I was getting cav burn behind the inlet. I did a little blueprinting work on it also.

When I converted to -2's on my Fountain the water pressure went through the roof on both motors. The Imco opening picks up a lot more water. Had to install relief vales to bleed off excess.

When you converted yours was it was simple as sliding it on or did you have to change some bearings too? From what I see they give you everything so you can just take the old off (bravo one lower) and put on the new imco lower.

I still have to call them, but before I did I wanted to get a idea what I'm getting into.

what boat?

Awainr76 09-11-2017 07:45 PM

It's a 1988 Challenger, Blown 502 in it. Had a Boat builder buddy tell me I needed a 2" shorty to raise my x dimension and that should really help the boat run smoother.
Challenger was made in Cedar Springs, Mi in the late 80's early 90's

The X dimension does not change. The propshaft height changes.
