Drive oil in the bilge

Hello,

I pulled my boat of our winter storage and noticed the drive oil reservoir was empty and i had oil in the bilge. That bottle is brand new and i cannot find a leak in the hose. When i opened the batches the top of the reservoir was very oily as is the oil got pushed out of the cap. Makes no sense and i am puzzled. Can anyone help???

If the cap was replaced with bottle and the cap was tight then the cap should not have leaked unless the new cap was bad. The cap has a one way valve which lets air in but not out.

When the boat was put away, what was done for winterization? Was the lube bottle and bilge checked prior to putting it to bed?

New cap and everything was tight when i pulled it out of storage. Yeah the boat was put away for winterization and i tore in a heating building. I hooked up the battery tenders and i did not notice any oil in the bilge and i am 99% sure the bottle was at the full line just like the other. Its really got me puzzled

Could this be water in the drive that froze and pushed lube up/out through drive bottle?

That was my first thought ^^^^^

Start with the easy stuff, pull the drain plug on the drive and see what you find.
If drive is OK, put some lube in the bottle and see if it shows a leak somewhere.
Thing about storage for the winter is after that must time the actual leak may have dripped away enough so not to notice where it was coming from

Well its in heated storage so it wouldn't be any water freezing in the drive. I will be changing the drive oil tonight and see what i have. Hopefully its a lose fitting i overlooked because if it inst it has to be magic! ha Thanks for everyone's responses and thoughts

Did you ever lose heat and/or electricity at your storage building? What ever it is, you need to figure it out quickly - it's getting close to 'go time' ! :-)

Is the hose still connected down at the fitting on the transom assembly ?

Yolk shaft seal tore on my bravo 1 and leaked oil into the bilge. My seal went out on a busy weekend. Its strange yours is leaking just coming out of storage.
