Bravo X or Standard?

Hi Guys,
Over the winter, I did an unplanned resto of my already "in good shape" 1990 311: Engines out, dyno, new gel in bilge, tabs, transom assembly's, and now realized that I have a warn bravo upper.
Two questions:
1) I replaced 7.4's with 502 MPI's years ago. If I were to get 2 new uppers, should I go with with bravo one X's or are standard Bravo's sufficient?
2) Has anyone ever purchased from Mike Vores at Marine Power Source in Miami? Saw his ads on here, but no website or info anywhere. Seems like a good guy, but thought I'd check to see if anyone on here has done business with these guys. I'm in Upstate NY and a bit tentative buying parts for thousands of dollars site unseen in a different part of the country.

The only difference between the 2 are that the X has a steel bearing tower and a larger input shaft.... before the x drives were around they put regular bravo’s behind hp 500’s and 525 sc’s so unless there isn’t that much difference in price do the std bravo’s

Thanks For feedback JT. That’s kinda what I thought. All kinds of people saying to get all crazy with the drives.
Would like to hear if anyone has purchased from Mike at Performance.

George at All American Drive Service is awesome. He would be my first call for anything Bravo related.

I went with an X drive upper to mate with the -3 IMCO lower. I have 800+ HP in front of it.

My regular Bravos had 600+ hrs behind 502mpi's. I blew the left one last year.
And pretty sure they had 750hp before that for about 100 hrs.
No real reason to go with X's for 502mpi power.

I would second the recommendation of George at All American Drive Service. They are one of the most impressive companies I've dealt with. They have rebuilt both of my XR Sport drives, on time and at a fair price. Those two statements don't always happen in the marine industry.
