Default Outdrive Gear Lube Temperature Monitoring

I have been looking for a way to monitor the gear lube temperature and came across this: https://gear-smart.com/

Anyone using this?

Nice find, I like the NMEA 2000 compatible version.

Now we need someone to test drive showers with that gauge set-up. I'm not so sure they work ...

Pretty sure it was done years a few times (not with the products above) and posted here on OSO. This was also when, I believe, Drew Marine ( or another company?) came out with a recirculating gear oil cooler for Bravos and etc.

I am close to ordering it for my 34' cabin cruiser with Bravo III's. I have the Simrek drive showers so I will definitely be removing one to see the difference.

Pretty sure Simrek has tested their showers monitoring gear lube temp to prove their effectiveness. That is why Formula starting installing them at the factory on their blue motor 370 and 400 SS's back in the day trying to stave off Bravo III failures before the advent of the Bravo III XR. If you look at similar Bravo III equipped boats at LOTO that have drive drive showers vs. those that don't you can clearly see the difference they make. Those with still have black uppers and those without have white uppers from all the lime being boiled off of them.

The NMEA 2000 version interests me, sent an email to the owner and he said with some more interest he could get them built. I really want to stay away from adding gauges, would much rather use the network with plug and play.

Livorsi used to sell Drive Temp Gauge and Sender, must of not been a big seller.
