Mercruiser to Volvo Penta
Apologies if this has been posted. I have inherited a Super Hawaii (for free), all-in-all it's in good condition, less the missing motors and outdrives (originally Bravo 1). I'm interested in building it out for as little cost as possible. Just for my family to putt around in. My questions are:
- Is this project even worth the time? I come from a long line of boat restorers... - my dad stands by VP outdrives as the simplest and cheapest, albeit best all around.is the conversion feasible? - I would probably buy turnkey motors, would two crate 350s be enough? -- for pulling kids, not looking to break any speed records... |
More info on your free boat would help?

From my reading I don't see 350's doing it for a Super Hero/Hawaii

From my meager research, it looks like I can get a drop-in solution from VolvoPenta, less the extended drive(??) requirement (motor mounts are staggered).
Not sure what other I do to add. But would be happy to find setup other than "Brand New, 2020" products...maybe there's somewhere to locate 2016 "off the shelf"? I had already read that thread, thanks for the link. |
From the read, these are heavy boats so need much more HP then a 350.
What size is the boat? No need to get brand new, and would suggest not due to CAT's. I'm thinking at least big block motors, and since the boat is old it can be repowered with non-CAT motors |
