bravo X3 upper - vibration

i am working on a bravo 3x upper.... I bought the complete unit with the idea of tearing it down and rebuilding. When I took it apart I noticed the top vertical shaft had about 1/3 of the top needle bearing land worn away.... Thought hmmm. maybe because this came off a junked out go-fast, the guy was always doing hole-shots and tore the shaft up. But proceeded to install all new bearings including tower bearings - re-assembled everything was sweet. Installed on the boat and noticed a vibration. I ran the drive for 8 hours and still same vibration. So, I have took the drive out of service and pulled the input shaft and chucked it up in my lathe - found the u-joint mount is about .015 out of round - so, a light bulb immediately turned on... it's that vibration / harmonic that ate up that shaft....
Sorry for the long prelude.... Can I install a complete u-joint, bearing and pinion gear from a standard Bravo into a Bravo x drive?

No, the regular bravo is smaller than the X drives

Jaayteee,
Thank you for the quick response. I know the x has a 1 1/4" short-shaft universal and the std. has a 1" short-shaft universal. What if I move the entire assembly, both shafts, bearings and gear from the std. to the x?

The std bravo pinion bearings and retainer nut have a smaller o.d.
