Arneson sourcing issues

I posted in the wanted section, but I'm posting here as well. I have an Arneson 1720, similar to the ASD-6 direct drive. I am looking for a set of trim and steering cylinders for the 1720, 1721, ASD-6, or ASD-8. I am also looking for a thrust ball for the 1720 or ASD-6 or would like to know if anyone has successfully had a thrust ball re-chromed. I also need a spline adapter. I have already reached out to Rik multiple times but have not had a reply. Any pointers are welcomed.

Contact Twin Disk via the surface drive link below (upper right is where to find the contact).

Twin Disc puts you to Arneson Industries (Rik) for smaller drives.

Did not know that....you may have issues then as there are a few threads about Rik/ AWOL service

Yes you can re-chrome the ball. At some point it will flake and take out the o-rings. For the best long term solution polish the bronze ball - it doesn't look as cool.

Sounds good. We have a few platers down here that can do it. Any advice on cylinders? I've been searching the dark corners of the Web for months.

I’d assume you called Rik? I talked to him about 6 times over the summer, sometimes for 20min or longer and bought parts.

Cylinders are tough to come by. Ebay is probably the best place.

How specific do the trim and steering cylinders have to be? If it becomes too hard to get your hands on a set of steering arms and a trim cylinder, you could look to modify a set of normal steering arms to fit your application. The only parts that look to be Arneson specific are the connection points.
