Bravo 3 ratio

After inspection of my bravo 3 upper. The forward gear is gone.
I have the chance to buy a good bravo 1 upper cheap from a friend.
it’s a 1.50 though so will give me 2.0.
my leg is 1.81 now and I run 26p props.
I have spare 28p props would that keep me around similar?

That should be pretty close, you’ll definitely notice better acceleration

do you think I’ll lose much top speed. It’s a forums 271. I was seeing 65gps with 1:81 and 26p

What was the RPM you were turning at wot?
if you were in the lower range of the band, you should be fine, if you were at the upper end, you could be on the rev limiter with the new gearing

that would be the only way you loose speed, then you just change to the next larger size to get it back.

I suscribe to the theory that it’s better to run a higher reduction and turn a larger prop slower than a smaller prop faster( with a lower reduction)

So the original was a 1.65 right?

I think the 1.65 was common in Bravo 3.

He had a 1.81 b3 which is the same upper as a 1.36 b1

the 2.2 b3 is a 1.65 b1 upper

with the 1:81 and 26p I was around 5200rpm wot. Rev limiter is 5500rpm. It’s a built 502

I think you’ll be ok
