Broken Bravo 2 X diesel
Apparently Bravo upper didn't like caterpillar.
Trying to post pics
I'd switch to IMCO SCX upper if anyone had any available.
This danged Covid shutdown has screwed up supply chains for everything.
Damage was severe.
It sounded like drive was leaving the boat.
I need to disassemble lower to clean out debris.
Metal was everywhere. |

I remember both times that happened ( 10 and 15 years ago) like it was yesterday |

Torque is the problem.
350 hp 3116 650 ft/lb It did ok with x dim high. Just added 1.5" drive spacer. Way more bite 18x26 4 blade. Didn't last 5 hr, idled back to ramp though, 10 mi. Have a spare upper, would like to get SCX though. |
So.
Just ordered an IMCO SCX upper conversion. I hope it's as tough as everybody says. I'll stick with Bravo2 lower for now. Need another stack for the 1400 lower. |
JB Weld it and put it in the classifieds under "refurbished" or "used - good condition - small blemishes". Everyone else does.....
That's just wrong.
When was your outdrive last refreshed,, it may been too many hours .
About 5 hours total on the pictured upper.
About 50 hours on previous non X BRAVO upper. Not dependable enough for my use. |

I'll use the new Bravo2 lower until I get the SCX driveshaft in the new XR lower. I really need the prop depth and need to use my 1.5" spacer. The modified transom assembly is done. Forgot about water hose install tool. Waiting for delivery. |
