Dean, we used a twin disc MG5061 transmission with the CAT 3126T/A. The ratio is 1:15/1. It is almost a straight drive. There are no drops or angles, so the engine output shaft is nearly in alignment with the prop

pizzacutter (Lee) ...Enjoyed your thoughts, comments and pictures of your 42' Harley on Boat Design.net ,,,posted quite a few years ago, but very enjoyable.
Someone commented and said: 42' Harley is like a deep Vee Cigarette boat with a tall cabin"......

I was told years ago that the 42' Harley was based on a Cigarette from the 60's or 70's. I kinda confirmed this when I saw an older Cigarette (I think it was 41') on a trailer at the canvas shop. I took some measurements and compared with the Harley.
They were very similar.

Your 42' Harley is in outstanding shape!.....understandable for a 30 year owner to keep her (your baby) fit and finished well.
I own a '82 35' Cigarette in great shape and love to overnight, thinking one day to comfortably weekend with a cruiser such
as yours would be the best!

OK guys,, I just got the U-Joints from Rik. I had a soda-blaster come and knock off most of the paint on the drives and surrounding transom area. So we are ready to go! Will keep updates on the site

1. remove all steering and trim cylinders. 2. remove boot and loosen retainer rings. 3. Set the drive in our homemade dolly & back it out. 4. remove inner thrust ball seals 5. Inside engine room, remove drive shafts and yokes 6. reach inside thrust housing outside and remove big snap ring 7. Use rubber hammer on inside to remove shaft assembly. So now shaft assembly is at machine shop to have U-Joints installed and balanced. Drive shafts will be removed,, balanced and painted as well.
Coming next is new forward seals inside engine room, new Arneson Boots, New Thrust ball seals,, and then reassemble. Steering Cylinders will be rebuilt and hoses replaced. Props will go to Wilson Custom Marine for Balancing.
Since we blasted most of the metal bare prior to starting job, it will be primed and painted, with new Zincs installed where applicable.

Any pics of the cabin?.....see must be comfortable weekender!

pizzacuttter 03-02-2022 04:31 PM

II cant find cabin pics right now, but I will get some. She got plenty room for weekends.. We have stayed aboard up to a month,, Bahamas & Keys trips, but usually 4-5 days at a time. Cabin has Genny Heat/Air Cond., galley, hot water, Sat TV, etc.
We have several cockpit canvas options that helps too. & mesh privacy curtains on 3 sides. We also got some folding bikes that make staying aboard more fun
