Drive trims up but wont go down?

Installed my Bravo drive last night after installing engine, had drive off all year and trim rams left in about a neutral position over winter. Drive trim will only bring drive up and not down. When i try and trim drive down the pump squeals like it does when its fully extended or retracted. Makes normal noise when trimming up. I had friend run the switch down while I stood and also tried jumping on drive to get it to go down and no luck, didn't budge Assuming there is a release valve in the trim cylinders that is stuck? Should i start looking for replacement rams or could it possibly be something else? Thanks for any advice.

I believe any valving in located in the pump itself.
sounds like you did not remove any of the wiring from the pumps/solenoids correct?

Correct, only removed drive to pull engine. I did replace all my trim plastic reservoirs last year and all filled properly but that was mid summer and no issue until now.

very odd that it should act up out of nowhere! i don't have any other ideas at this time, keep us posted if you find the issue

well it isn’t the cylinders, pulled the lines off them and they move in and out freely so something must be wrong with the trim pump.

I had a similar issue start at the end of last season wouldn't trim down and give it power in reverse drive would go up and stay there ,had to jump in water at night and loosen the lines to rams to get the drive down last time out rebuilt both rams over the winter and all good now

This may be a long shot for ya but inside the fluid container there will be two pickup tubes to suck the oil into the pump...maybe one of them is broken and sucking air or broke off....

mine ended up being the trim pump being faulty. Replaced it and trims fine now.
