I welded the inlet halfway closed on my Imco to get pressure where I want it other than run a relief valve. I also welded up the cavitation burn behind the inlet which seems to be normal on an Imco. The weld material is much harder and cav burn is much less now. I also blueprinted it.
"I know I run the risk of losing some bow lift and going the wrong way." Absolutely correct. You will lose leverage and they don't work well on all boats. Run it by other owners of your boat model.

If I had to pick between the 2 I’d go sportsmaster and trim down the sheg to match a stock

I'll measure and adjust the limit switch before I go out and see if I get anything from that...if I have room. I never imagined it would be setup flat like that. It is the first time I checked. That last tiny bit of trim from 3.5-4 on my indicator is worth 3-4mph and looking at those 2 settings last night its not a lot of movement.
