What's the cost of this vs. a SEI whole bravo drive w/a 3 yr warranty?
My drives are approaching 900 hours and shifting is becoming more difficult. and I have paint issues on them, and I think both lose a bit of drive oil (maybe 5oz each over a season of 100 engine hours).

so, at some point, I'm thinking I'll throw 2 new SEI Bravo drives on it and sell the old drives for parts.

Well, truth be told, I didn't know about these SEI drives. Looks to be comparable to my repair. My new upper gears were about $2500, and I've got a few hundred more into it so far with specialized tools, all the lubes and stuff. Looks like the complete SEI drives are a tad over $3k for the Bravo variants? So I guess I'm still ahead... I do have to say, though, aside from the hit to my wallet, I'm actually rather enjoying this project and seeing how the drive works!

Post just in case it may be overlooked
Your working with a older drive and now newer section, so make sure comparability works

Was new style lower shaft installed with new gear set?
HP gear lube?

Otherwise I have nothing, could be stuff happens

Hm, not sure on the lower shaft? The existing driveshaft on these upper gears was indeed the newer style, with the lower collar as part of the shaft rather than held in with keepers. The whole lower unit is actually a new SEI unit, which I just realized after my last post about the SEI complete drive. Hm.....

Thats the kit I’m talking about, you’ll need a puller that will be capable to get the driven gear races off of the tower in the case and on the top cap, and a driver to position the new, narrower races on the tower( merc sells both)

Hm, not quite sure I'm wrapping my head around this. Do you happen to know part numbers for these tools for me to explore? I've got everything I *thought* I needed based on the manuals, but these tools aren't are ringing any bells for me. Thanks!

Ah, wait a minute. Are you talking the bearing sleeves? These look to be included in the upgraded gear kit. Parts 5 and 13 here:

Yep, gotcha. Thanks for pointing that out, I did totally miss that one. But damn! That tool is over $400. Might call around on Monday and see if I can find a shop to quickly press those in for me...
