Keep Your Zincs Current...

Friendly public service reminder....lol....keep up withbthe needs of your outdrive's zincs.

This was from a Bravo transom assembly. Part of a complete take-out 7.4 MPI I snagged. Engine seems to be ok, but the drive and transom assembly have been neglected.

The gimbal ring is locked up tight. Trim cyls are eaten through.

Zinc is cheap.

Yeah, PNW. Story was, the owner left it in the water over covid times.

Either way...neglect doesn't get worse than this. It's pretty much unsalvageable.

Zincs on the trim rams actually don't look too bad.. I wonder if they actually used the wrong "zincs" and it wasn't giving itself up fast enough.. I would expect to see zero anode material with that bad of corrosion.

The transom and drive zincs were both totally gone.

Maybe the trim rams weran't elec isolated?

The trim ram was eaten through right beside the zinc..you can see it if you zoom in. The o-ring and inside the ram exposed.

Mercathode on the engine...maube the battery died.

Either way, I don't think I'll use the Mercathode on the Baja 232 build. Just good zincs and everything grounded.

I was not impressed on the Merc MPI vloosed colling heat exchanger...there's no provision for pencil zincs.
