Bravo Three stripdown and re-paint
Hey everyone,
New here and I'm trying to send a PM to buy a part. Instead of spamming an old post I thought I'd share a few pics of my project. Bought a new to me 2004 Doral Intrigue. Salt water had started to take it's toll on the finish, and one of the skegs had some damage from galvanic corrosion. |

C-IC 33 Aero (Alumiprep)
Drawing from my background in aircraft maintenance, I prepared the aluminum drives for paint using the same techniques recommended by aircraft manufacturers. Alumiprep is a phosphoric acid-based cleaner. It's used to remove the oxidation layer on aluminum. Only difference is I diluted the Alumiprep with water as the drives are cast. Come to find out, the Mercury Bravo Three shop manual recommends the exact same process. I only stumbled on that info afterwards while browsing the manual.

Alodine
Immediately after the Alumiprep treatment, I applied Alodine to provide a good conversion coating to promote paint adhesion.

Interprotect 2000e
I then sprayed 5 coats of Interproject epoxy primer

AWLGrip
Then finished it off with 3 coats of AWLGrip AWLCraft 3000.

Pretty happy with the results. We'll see how well it holds up. :D
