SMartcraft with 525EFI
my 525EFI does not have a plug connection for the fuel level sender. So I canīt see the fuel level. Does anybody know, if it is possible to connect the fuel level sender to the junctionbox?
|
There is a tank harness that connects to the engine. I can look up the PN later. Not expensive if i remember correctly
|
I have the tank harness, but no plug connection at the engine :-(
|
That is strange. Sometimes it is buried in the back & hard to find. Are there any open connectors at all? Do you have the serial number?
|
the # is 0M905419
I think I have searched at every possible places - did not fin anything. The steering connector is free... |

Here is the transom conection from the 525 install manual. Does your's look like this?
|
No, I do not have this cable. Mine is only 10 Pin, I donīt have Fuel Level I, Fuel Level II, Tab I and Tab II, Trim pump, Trim switch and Shift position.
send your e-mail adress and I can send you pics of the connector. Is it possible to put an Y connector at the blue Smartcraft cable and connect it with an adapter to the fuel level harness? |
Email sent
Unfortunately a junciton/y connector won't work. The fuel sender is analog and the ECM is what converts that to the digital signal that becomes part of the data on the can (smartcraft) cable. |
but it worked at my 496Ho I donīt understand why?

Here is a page from an older 525 service manual. It does look different than the later install manual. Looks like they changed it along the way.
So it looks like there should be some bullet connectors floating around on a whip a few inches from the main connector. Anything like that? |
Looking at that service manual description, I'm betting the wires are buried in the harness somewhere.
On a side note, not sure if anyone has ever tested this with Smartcraft, but there is a stand alone CAN output fuel sender available now. It plugs into the data network and sends a fuel level via J1939 to nodes on the network. http://www.capnavi.com/en/shop/showproduct/12/ I found those units available on another site for about $100 |
Thats my engine!
