Who makes the best guages ?
 

Hi guys I need to replace a Tach, Speedo and Trim guages Just looking for some feedback on which ones i Should go with I want good reliable guages

Livorsi. Did 2 different boats with them now. Good selection and quality.

Anything but Livorsi. They are about the poorest quality on the market at the highest price and no parts available...

I am going with a networked digital system using a garmin chart plotter and fish finder that accepts NEMA 2000. I hate the way the gauges take up valuable room when 1 screen will do everything and I think it really updates the look.

I just bought a full set of the new autometer marine gauges.
The seem to be of good quality.

I think they might make marine gauges branded for others too.

I've used auto meter on a previous boat and will be using them again when I update the dash of this boat. 1/2 price of livorsi and equal or better quality

I did all new autometer platinums a few years ago. They still look and work great, would buy them again. I believe for everything here, including GPS speedo, I was all in for just under 1000 bucks.

X2, I bought a full set up for twins from Livorsi including many additional besides what is the typical gauges. I would not buy Livorsi if I was to do it all over. Like already stated poor quality for what tthey cost. I would go the Autometer route, they apprear to be a great product at a very reasonable price.

Hint: it isn't Faria or Teleflex

How do you know that for sure? I am not cheer leading for Livorsi by no means, but I am just curious how you arrived at your statement. The reason I am asking is because I am doing some research on Livorsi and Auto Meter. Livorsi has more color options, but that does not matter to me as much as the internal quality of the gauge itself. I spoke with Auto Meter the other day, and they said their electronic "marine" gauge has a .5% accuracy tolerance.

Anybody can chime in with any info on Livorsi, Auto Meter or Hardin Marine,----but I do not think Hardin Marine manufactures their own gauges. Does anyone know? Thanks for any responses.

Last Saturday talking with my friend who just installed $2000 worth of Livorsi gauges. I actually called him as he was trying to put them back together because the bezel/ glass kept falling off when u would tighten it down. He did get them back on. I said what's gonna happen when you take the boat out he said that's what I'm worried about. So, u spend 2g,s and the stuff is gonna fall through the dash? I told him send the junk back they've never been used. There wasn't even a motor in the boat at that point. He said I can't. Evidently he had a problem with one when mocking up the dash previously and couldn't get the bezel back on so he called Livorsi to see what they would do and they said they would repair it for $51 or he could buy a new one for $54 or vise versa. At that point I realized I ordered a Livorsi gauge to match the rest of my dash. I have an older set that I picked up in the swap shop cheap that came out of a Skater. I pulled my new gauge out of the box and realized the new one I got is just like the same kind of junk he's dealing with. There is no crimp on the bezel. The older ones I have aren't like this. There are other issues with these gauges other than the bezels... The fade out, life expectancy sucks ect ect. I would expect this kind of quality from Chinese junk but these are USA made gauges. You know once upon a time made in USA ment something. If I built something and charged that kind of money for it and my customers had these kind of issues I'd loose sleep over it. Livorsi just doesn't care. You know members jump on other members for selling used parts on here that are sub par. Well how about if we buy something brand new? I tell you what if I spent that kind of money and got a pile of junk like my friend did I would have hopped in my truck drove all night and been at there door first thing in the morning to get another set of gauges, money back or insert the ones I got in someone's rear end. It's not right. A company that produces a product like that does not deserve to be in buisness. Buy a set of autometer or some cheap Chineese ones and I'm sure you will end up with a better product.

Thank you for your response. Bad as it may be, that is the kind of info I need to know. I am looking at Auto Meter more and more lately. They have been building gauges for a long time.

Auto Meter for the win!

I have been using Auto Meter for more than twenty-five years. I've never once run into an issue. In fact I have a set sitting in my garage that came out of a project from more than twenty years ago. They were assembled in 1993, and still look and function like they're supposed to. I'm going to use them as redundant gauges on my S10 (they're mechanical and will mounted on the cowl).

Where is the best place to buy autometer?

I went with Livorsi. Never really considered anything else. I am happy though. They had what I wanted, so I went that route. That said, it was expensive but turned out to be exactly what I wanted.
