Recommendations on GPS/Plotter?

Going to Florida soon and need to add a some kind of GPS (I'm normally lake guy so I've never worried about it and the one on my boat is WAY outdated).
Don't want to spend over 1500 but don't want junk either. So far I'm kinda liking the Garmin 740s
Recommendations and why?

I like my 740s it is very easy to read and use but not to big and bulky.

+1. Great unit. Very easy to use, even better with G2 Vision cards and Home Port software where you can plan routes on your computer and upload to the GPS.. very happy with it.

I've got a 540 series - the screen is too small when running fast (or my eyes are just too bad??). I'd suggest a bigger screen than what I have.

I have the Raymarine e Series 7". The footprint worked for me but I really like the bright screen and the hybrid controls. Touchscreens can be tough to use while running along.

Get the biggest screen that will fit and/ or you can afford. Smaller ones are hard to use when cruising at high speeds.

I bought an elite 5- dsi as I really didn't have a good place to put a bigger one. Good detail, we used it in orange beach this past weekend and it was better than the family members who "thought" they knew waters! Under 400 I think it was..

You can see it right in front of my steering wheel. Only blocks fuel gauge.

I'm a Raymarine guy. Takes a little longer to learn how to use but awesome once you learn it and software updates with new maps for free every 2 mos or so. Spend a little more than 1500. Get a big screen. You get what you pay for.

Raymarine has some nice units but bang for the buck I like the Garmin 741xs. It has 99% of the bells and whistles of the 8200 series, has depth built in, comes with blue chart and inland lake ships, and is a usable size. I think they're normally available for around $1300.

I got the Garmin GPSMAP 620. All screen / touch screen. It is small yet decent sized screen. I ordered the optional flush mount kit so now I can pop it in and out of the offshore and the ski boat. Oddly, it actually has maps and works in the car too. It is definitely kind of big for that.

I have an lowrance HDS7 Touch flushmounted in my dash on my 25 Baja. Love it and also pulls all engine data to it.

Im looking at Raymarine Dragonfly 5. Five inch screen. Anyone have one? Is that screen too small for 65 -70 mph? I want something mounted to the boat. I dont want to use a cell phone.

After looking at different options I ordered :

NMEA2000 capable

With Simrad GO FREE app you can mirror and control the screen with a tablet or phone.
That might work out nice since I already have a tablet mounted

ICDPPL - Let me know how you like it once you've tried it.

After a back order it got delivered today.
I like it. I can mirror it and control it from my tablet and phone if i want thru a free app. Pretty cool.
Navigation is a significantly better than the Navionics app I was using . I kinda want to mount the transducer to advantage of the sonar/downscan.

I now have a Garmin 7607. It's pretty nice. Touch screen, links to Fusion head unit, and smartcraft (need to add Gateway).
