Tranducer location on a stepped hull Donzi?

I've decided to use an in-hull transducer for my Garmin 547XS. Any suggestions on a mounting location? Mid-hull, towards the stern, before or after one of the steps?

Steve,
If you can get access forward of the first step, this would be best. This way you know when you are creeping up on shallow water when beaching or the like. I do not believe the bottom of the hulls are cored on your boat.

Behind the steps will not work on plane. Hull is very thick and will not shoot through without drilling into

Bringing back from the dead. Where did you end up mounting the transducer?
