Default GPS speedo not working on NMEA 0183

My Gaffrig antennae took a dump last year and I recently tried to hook up my Lowrance via NMEA 0183.

It cycles on, sets to 0 once single acquired, but GPS speedo does not work, just stays at -0-?
I already enabled all the nmea outputs and set to 4800.

What next? What am I missing??

Played around with settings today while I had my Lowrance simulating gps speed. NOTHING!! I toggled through all the sentence outputs to see which one lost signal to the gauge. My gauge is actually a 2002 model with 6 pin molex and 1 wire signal input.

I may have to break down and just buy another gps antenna.... ??

Thanks cig20!! I just placed order, i came across that thread last night. Not sure why my Lowrance doesn’t work but probably something to do with the newer signal at 10x per sec as opposed to 1x..

will update post once it comes in and working.. though, I will not be able to actually test until I get it moving or tow my wife around the block!! Lol

Might be a lil cool for a bikini still.. Not to mention its raining now!! I installed the antennae!!1

It cycles from 9 to 12 and down to 6 (0 mph). While I was hooking up the power it was reading 3 o’clock so... hopefully it works.

For someone that doesn't have a GPS speedo what would someone recommend to avoid future issues?....What make and (moderately priced) model?

They newer antennae’s are hardwired to power, this fixes the issue of batteries going out.

Really depends what your looking for. My Lowrance has gps speed, but I like to see the gauge move and its easier to watch for me and passengers. If you still want a GPS speedo, I havent found any that are moderately priced. Mine is a Gaffrig that is a Livorsi brand, but also reads that its made by auto meter.

Also, I did find some 3” that were cheaper than the 4 5/8 monster guages, but it really depends on what you want. Use google, amazon and ebay and just do a search.

If I come across any, Ill post here.
