GPS Info / help Needed

I hope this is a good place to post this question.
I have a Formula Fastech and using a Garmin 640 GPS. The unit is pretty good but having issues in the daylight seeing the screen. Is anyone else having this problem and what are you doing to correct this issue.
Also, think (if need be) changing the GPS to something that will work better in daylight. 7-inch display would probably be my limit. What do you suggest?

Thanks

A lot depends on your available space and boating style. I run a 28' Velocity on Lake Huron which can get pretty rough so touch screens are useless unless you want to stop to change screens. I have found buttons work better in high performance boating. Cruisers are whole different story.

Interesting ... I boat in Miami so we have the Atlantic ocean and bay. My biggest problem is the glare from the Garmin 640. I guess I am kind of looking at how to correct this.

I like the way Snowrunner did it. https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...sh-panels.html
I have 2 Garmins and 2 Simrads and I can say for sure the Simrad screens are better. Only thing I dont like about the Simrads are the screens dont self dim at night.
Obviously a different boat but when you realize you dont use all those gauges, it frees up room. All gauges are viewable on the screens though. 2nd Simrad had not yet been installed in this video. It replaced the old Autopilot screen that was above the VHF.

The backlight on Garmin's is set to auto by default. You could try manually adjusting it. I have that problem at night. Do you wear polarized glasses? I always do, and sometimes I can't see my screen without peering over the top of my glasses.

Thx Dave. I the backlight has been adjusted to Day (non Auto) and set to 100%. Also, I have experienced the issue with the polarized glasses and have switched.

I am wondering if I will experience this issue with any GPS I have because of the angle of the dash. The GPS is mounted in a fixed position and I am wondering if the angle is the problem.

Do you have this same GPS- Garmin GPSMaps 640?
