Neutral cut out switch
I recently replaced my tbIV ignition system with a dui marine distributor on a mercruiser 350. I love it and it runs so much better. My issue is wiring the neutral cut out switch. I know it is the brown wire of the distributor but is the switch supposed to open the line or ground it out like the tb system did? My switch and all the switches I have found are n/o logic with no post for a n/c option. Could someone please enlighten me. Thank you

Welcome to OSO, it's a great site full of info fun and games, with a lot of good people onboard.
wish i had the answer your looking for. It will get answered. my first thought is an ignition kill switch is more important than a nuetral safety how is the shift interupter wired n/o or n/c i always forget which is hot which is not and i dont ever remeber seeing no nc on any merc wirring diagrams. i'll look some up what year make and model. |
I’m assuming you have an alpha drive? You could use a relay to power the hei, and when the ground contact closes it opens the relay

I managed to finally get a response from the manufacturer. He instructed me to go through the n/o switch to ground just like the tbIV system. I will do that this weekend. Thank you for your responses.
