What is the best affordable GPS (fixed) for the great lakes. My boat is a Regal Express.
Is your suggestion water proof and is the display large.?

Tks for your suggestions

Garmin units on sale are a really good deal. The 6x and 7x series are great for the Great Lakes and decently priced. They also integrate with a newer VHF with DSC which is a good safety feature.

Thank you, do you sell the 6 or 7?

No I don't, I was considering an upgrade and saw some of the sale prices at West Marine and saw that the new models are cheaper than my old 546S was.

I have a Garmin 741xs. I like it, but I wish I went bigger. I have the NMEA 2K gateway too, so I can display my engine info on the GPS too. I guess most are touch screen now, but that can be a challenge when the water is rough.

Garmin does make a few models that use buttons. I agree on the touch screen, works great at the dock but when flying across the lake at 60+ it's really hard to change screens with a touch screen display.

I purchased a new Garmin ECHOMAP 73sv with US LakeVu and GTS54UHD-TM Transducer from GPS City.
With shipping the complete system was under 700.00. Includes cable, brackets, and hardware.
Tks for your input.
