2016 Mercury 150 FourStroke Error code retrieval
 

Is there a way to retrieve the error codes from the ECM without the CDS G3 tooling? I have found the trick for pre-2000 codes with the shorting of A & B and the LED flash codes. Is there a way to get the codes from a 2016 model? Is it possible to use an automotive scan tool adapted to the Mercury test port or is the communication protocol different for the marine industry?
