Re: 03 daytona with 525
I don't know how a p5x works on a 26 but we tried a few on a 25 with a 500efi and the p5x was terrible. Blew out, slow to plane and lost cruise and top end when replaceing a 28 bravo. As for the 26 , what gear ratio?

Re: 03 daytona with 525
I just bought the boat. My first time to drive a cat. WOW !!!!! What a ride compared to my baja. Need some help with where to mount the depth finder sending unit. This boat don't have one and I don't want to drill a hole in the boat.

gsmith9898 - Welcome to the Eliminator Club!!!! WOW is usually the reaction of a first time cat owner.
I had a chance to see a brand new 05 Daytona 26 with a 525, and a 28 pitch factory 4 blade prop this weekend at LOTO. The boat was being delivered by Midwest Performance in Omaha NE, and the driver was Marty of that dealership, so he is better a getting the needed top speed!!! Needless to say the recall on the GPS was 84, brand new out of the box. You will love the boat.....Enjoy the envy of the v-bottom owners. |
Re: 03 daytona with 525
I test drove the boat when I boaght it and it went to 81 mph with three of us and felt like it could go some more. It has 1.35 gears and a 26 4 blade bravo prop. was not close the rev limiter so do I try a 28 prop or stay with the 26?

Re: 03 daytona with 525
We did not hit the rev limiter. I think we got to about 5000 rpm. So you think go down to a 25 or 24 pitch prop?

Re: 03 daytona with 525
I would say it sounds like you are close with what you have. The true test if you are looking for top speed only would be to have just you in the boat, minimal gear (coolers, etc.), and have maybe 1/4 tank of fuel. Of course I would also say that if the boat/engine is brand new...it will loosen up a bit once you get some hours on it.
